It's Independent Bookstore Day and We're Turning 5!

Traditionally, the last Saturday in April is Independent Bookstore Day (IBD), when booksellers, authors and readers come together to celebrate indie book shops. It also marks an historic day for us: Five years ago on this day, our founder, Rachel Wood, announced that Scrawl Books would join Reston's small business community as the only independent bookstore selling new titles! We can't party in person, but some of our favorite picture book authors helped us build a fabulous storytime playlist on our Youtube channel, we've put together one-day-only special deals and we're giving away some free Indie Bookstore merchandise!

Ways to Celebrate with us Today!

1.) Check out our AMAZING storytime playlist on Youtube! Several wonderful picture book authors agreed to read one of their stories for us just for today. Bears with underwear, gophers who save the day, chickens who do math, foxes who paint and more colorful, wonderful characters round out this fabulous storytime. It's a treat for readers of any age!

2.) Let us surprise you with a Bundle of Picture Books for $50! Four picture books and a free Independent Bookstore Day Tote make this an incredible deal.

3.) Spend $75 today and get a free IDB tote and vintage indie bookstore merchandise. (Think pencil pouches, signed books, posters, tea towels -- even vinyl!) Can't decide what to purchase? Let us help. Buy one of our Book Bundles, and we'll deliver a customized stack of books for you.

4.) Participate in #VirtualBookstoreParty! At 3:00 pm, join DC Nationals pitcher Sean Doolittle and best-selling author V.E. Schwab on Zoom to talk all things books, bookstores and maybe even baseball.

5.) Make a donation to help a local teacher purchase books. We support teachers every day, but now more than ever!
